- Packages start around ₹5,000 per person for 3 days, excluding flights.
- Hotels are the biggest cost, and they change most with the season.
- Budget extra for gondola tickets, union taxis and pony rides.
- Travelling off-season or in a group can cut costs noticeably.
"How much will our Kashmir trip cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks us.
In this guide you'll get honest numbers, based on the prices we quote every day, plus the extra costs that most package listings leave out.
By the end, you'll be able to estimate your total Kashmir tour cost with confidence.
How much does a Kashmir tour package cost in 2026?
Most Kashmir tour packages cost ₹5,000 to ₹18,000 per person on twin sharing, excluding flights.
Short 3-day trips sit at the lower end. Week-long trips with better hotels sit at the top, and luxury trips can go much higher. Here are our current starting prices:
What makes up the Kashmir trip price?
Hotels, the cab, meals and activities.
- Hotels and houseboats: the biggest part of the cost, and the part that changes most with the season
- Private cab: usually charged per day, not per person, so it gets cheaper per head as your group grows
- Meals: most packages include breakfast and dinner; budget a little extra for lunch and snacks
- Activities: gondola tickets, pony rides and union taxis are paid on the spot
- Flights or trains to Srinagar or Jammu
What extra costs should you keep aside?
Plan for a few things that aren't in any standard package.
- Gulmarg Gondola tickets: check current fares on the official J&K Cable Car Corporation website
- Union taxis in Pahalgam (Aru, Betaab, Chandanwari) and in Sonamarg
- Pony rides and snow gear rental in winter
- Room heaters in winter
How can you bring the Kashmir trip cost down?
Travel off-peak, book early and avoid unnecessary hotel changes.
- Travel in March, early April, July or November when hotel rates dip
- Book flights to Srinagar early
- Stay in Srinagar and do day trips instead of changing hotels every night
- Share a vehicle with friends or family
How much does a Kashmir trip cost per day?
As a rough guide, budget around 3,000 to 6,000 per person per day on a comfortable land-only basis, excluding flights. That figure covers your hotel, a shared private cab, breakfast and dinner, and the day's sightseeing at a mid-range level.
Budget travellers sharing a cab and staying in clean 3-star hotels can come in lower, while those choosing 5-star stays, a private vehicle for two and extra activities will spend more. The per-day cost falls as your group grows, because the cab, which is charged per day rather than per head, is shared across more people. Use this daily figure to sanity-check any package quote against your trip length.
Cost by trip length: 3, 5 and 7 days
Longer trips cost more in total but often less per day, because fixed costs like your arrival transfer are spread across more days. A short 3-night trip is the cheapest total outlay and suits a long weekend. A 5-to-6-day trip, the most popular length, covers the full classic circuit at a middle cost.
A 7-day trip adds a quieter meadow and a houseboat night for a higher total but a relaxed pace. The table above shows current starting prices by package; as a rule, each extra night adds the cost of a room, meals and the cab for that day. Decide your days first, then read the price against them.
Cost by hotel category: 3-star to 5-star
Hotel grade is the single biggest lever on your Kashmir trip cost. Clean 3-star hotels and standard houseboats keep the price modest and are perfectly comfortable for most travellers. Stepping up to 4-star or deluxe properties raises the cost noticeably for more space, better food and nicer locations.
Five-star hotels and premium houseboats sit at the top and can double a trip's price, buying you the valley's finest stays, a chauffeured SUV and a private pace. Our range runs from budget 3-star trips to a dedicated 5 star Kashmir tour package, so you can match the cost to the comfort you want.
A sample budget for a couple
For a couple on a comfortable 5-night trip, expect the land cost to cover a mix of hotel and a houseboat night, a private cab for the two of you, breakfast and dinner, and the main sightseeing. Couples pay a little more per head than a group, because they do not share the cab cost with others.
Add flights from your city, some lunches, the Gulmarg Gondola, a few pony rides and shopping, and you have your total. Honeymooners who want a premium houseboat and 5-star stays should budget towards the higher end. Tell us your city and dates for an exact couple's quote.
A sample budget for a family of four
A family of four usually travels more economically per head than a couple, because the cab is shared across four people, though you may need two rooms or a family room. Children are often charged a reduced rate, and under-fives frequently travel free sharing a bed.
Budget for family rooms, a spacious vehicle, meals, and the activities children love such as the gondola and pony rides. Flights are the other big line. Because family pricing depends on the ages of your children and the room configuration, ask for a tailored family quote rather than multiplying the adult price; our family trip to Kashmir guide explains the details.
How much do flights to Kashmir cost?
Flights are the biggest single variable in your whole trip, and the one that changes most. Fares to Srinagar from Delhi, Mumbai and other cities swing widely with the season, the day of the week and how far ahead you book.
Book early and be flexible on dates to save the most, as last-minute Srinagar fares climb steeply. Midweek and early-morning flights are usually cheaper than convenient weekend ones. If Srinagar fares are high, compare flights to Jammu and the overland route, which some travellers combine with a Vaishno Devi visit. Because fares move so much, always treat the flight as a separate, live cost rather than a fixed number.
How much does food and shopping cost?
Your package usually includes breakfast and dinner, so your main food spend is lunch and snacks, which are modest if you eat where locals eat. A traditional wazwan or rogan josh, street food in the old city and cups of kahwa all cost little.
Shopping is the wildcard. Kashmir is famous for pashmina shawls, carpets, papier-mache, saffron, walnuts and dried fruit, and it is easy to spend freely on these. Buy saffron from registered or GI-tagged sellers in Pampore, and treat carpets and pashminas as considered purchases. Set a shopping budget in advance so it does not quietly become the biggest line of your trip.
When are Kashmir trip costs highest?
Prices peak in the busiest windows: the May-June summer season, the December-January snow and New Year period, the tulip weeks in April, and major holidays and long weekends. Hotels and houseboats fill up and rates rise, and flights climb with demand.
The cheapest times are the shoulder months, roughly late February to mid-March and late September through early November, when the valley is still beautiful but quieter. If your dates are flexible, shifting even a week out of a peak window can lower your total noticeably. For low-cost strategies, see our budget trip to Kashmir guide.
How to compare two Kashmir quotes fairly
The lowest headline price is not always the cheapest trip. To compare fairly, ask each operator for the exact hotel names, the room category, whether the cab is private or shared, which meals are included, and what is excluded, such as the gondola, union taxis and heaters.
Two packages at the same price can mean very different hotels and inclusions. Get everything in writing before you pay, including the payment schedule and cancellation terms. A slightly higher quote with named 3-star hotels and clear inclusions is often better value than a cheaper one full of vague "deluxe category" promises and hidden extras.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Kashmir trip cost per person? Roughly 12,000 to 30,000 for a comfortable land-only trip of four to seven days, excluding flights, with luxury trips higher. Are flights included in package prices? Usually not; most package prices are land-only, so add flights separately. What is the cheapest way to visit Kashmir? Travel in the shoulder season, share a cab, and choose clean 3-star stays. What extra costs should I keep aside? The gondola, union taxis, pony rides and winter heaters. For more cost planning, the Kashmir tour packages guides on Travel Wiki pair well with this one.
Is a budget trip to Kashmir possible?
Yes, very much so.
Spend where it matters to you, such as a good houseboat or a view room, and save on the rest. Our cheap Kashmir tour packages show what's possible. Send us your dates and group size, and we'll give you an exact quote.
Does the trip cost change by month?
Yes; April to June and late December are the most expensive, while November and March are the cheapest.
Peak months see hotel rates rise and flights cost more. The tulip season in April, the summer school holidays in May and June, and the Christmas to New Year week are the costliest. November, early December, early March and the post-monsoon period in late September are often the best value. Shifting your dates by just a week or two can save a lot.
How much does a houseboat night add?
A good deluxe houseboat costs about the same as a three- or four-star hotel; luxury houseboats cost more.
Houseboats come in categories, from simple to luxury. Including one or two houseboat nights does not usually raise the package cost much compared with a good hotel, and the experience is worth it. Our Srinagar houseboat package shows the price for a short stay.
What is the cost of a luxury Kashmir trip?
From around ₹40,000 to well over ₹1,00,000 per person for five-star hotels and private SUVs.
Luxury trips use five-star hotels in Srinagar and Gulmarg, deluxe houseboats, private SUVs and special experiences. See our Kashmir luxury tour packages and the 5-star Kashmir tour package.
How much should you budget for activities?
About ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 per person for the gondola, ponies, union taxis and rafting.
Activities are usually extra. The gondola (both phases), union taxis in Pahalgam and Sonamarg, a pony ride and a rafting trip together can add several thousand rupees per person. Plan for these so you are not surprised.
Are taxes included in package prices?
Most quotes include GST; always check.
Ask whether the quote includes GST and any service charge. Our prices include taxes unless stated otherwise.
More quick answers
What is the average Kashmir trip cost? Roughly ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 per person for 5 days, excluding flights. Which months are cheapest? November and early March. Are activities included? Usually not. See our Kashmir tour package price list.
How do children's costs work in Kashmir packages?
Children under 5 usually travel free sharing beds; older children pay a reduced rate with an extra bed.
Most hotels let small children share their parents' bed at no extra cost, and charge a reduced rate for an extra bed or mattress for older children. Gondola tickets are free for very small children and charged for others. Tell us your children's ages when you ask for a quote so we can price it accurately. See our Kashmir family tour packages.
Why do two quotes for the same trip differ so much?
Because hotels, cab type, meal plan and inclusions differ, even when the itinerary looks the same.
A low quote may use a hotel far from the centre, a smaller cab, breakfast only, or leave out the Shikara ride and airport transfers. Before comparing prices, line up the exact hotels, the vehicle, the meal plan and the inclusions side by side. The cheapest quote is not always the best value once you add what it leaves out.
